This is film making at it's finest. This film is hauntingly beautiful and tragically heartbreaking, especially due to the fact that it's based on a true story. The gruesome stoning is shown in all of it's horrific intensity, and it leaves the audience sick to their stomachs.
Soraya's wrongful execution is driven home by the fact that the men of the village feel that they have to do this; that there is no other option. As their Mullah proclaims "with each stone you throw your honor shall be restored.
