Review of The Stoning of Soraya M. (2009) by Julian B — 17 Dec 2012
The sheer strength of the authenticity of the material is very strong. The heavy-handed approach is necessary in order to illustrate the utter brutality and bring awareness on the topic of women's right.
It functions as a documentary; recounting Soraya wed Aliâ's murder. I believe the film illuminates the different problems of our world. Many different social injustices are tackled here, but it transcends beyond just a mere film with its message.
The struggle of the women in our world is unimaginable. None of these things appear on our television screen and we've gotten so caught up on our own consumption and credibility we dismiss all the human injustices and inequalities.
It is important to reflect and see the different social injustices in the world even in our own country. It's important that our bubble of society gets burst by this film. What happened here is just heinous.
The message of the movie is heard loud and clear.
