Review of The Stoning of Soraya M. (2009) by Patriciat — 05 Jul 2009
In a word: impactful. Well acted. Although some characters seem to be rather poorly drawn in order to simply advance to the stoning; there is little ambivalence and shading, which would have added to making the film feel less partial, without taking away the powerful reaction viewers feel about the inhumanity of the unjust "punishment" as well as the horrible conditions that women live in under Sharia law.
