Review of The Sting (1973) by D R — 11 Feb 2009
A real hollywood classic, a Big con movie to end all con movies.
Newman and Redford are together again, and these two together are just cinematic gold.
Redford plays the young small time con artist Johnny Hooker. When Hookers mentor Luther is murdered he teams up with the legendary con artist Henry Gondorff (Newman) to exact revenge and ultimitely to pull the greatest con ever over the man who ordered the killing Mob boss Doyle Lonnegan.
Hasn't aged a day and with a score that's istantly recognisable the Sting is a grand scale masterpiece.
