"Sorry I'm late boys, I was takin' a crap!" The Sting is one of the reasons I sometimes wish I lived in a different time. The early 20th century seems as good a time as any. It was an industrial revolution, people were inventing new stuff all the time, the USA was the coolest place to be, and there was the great depression.

But why would a con man care about that? Con men don't have to obey the rules of society. The guys in The Sting are so clever and funny, I want to join. When they pull the big con on the big racketeer from the big city, they do it with such glee.

Now, of course I'm a con man, but I haven't mastered the art of glee. Someday. Gondorff and Hooker run from cops, they chase girls, they tease serious people, they drink too much, they teach, they learn, they laugh, they get lonely, and they do it all with charming class.

I get stung every time. You follow?
