Much like George Roy Hill's other film with Redford and Newman, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, this is also a crime movie with a blend of drama and comedy and a great dose of chemistry between the same lead actors.

But even though I like Butch Cassidy more, The Sting is still a fresh, original movie depicting a group of men pulling off a monumental con. The whole film is a lot of fun, with Redford and Newman having great banter between one another, and the moments where their plan looks as if it will unravel had some great moments of tension.

The pacing was slow in a few spots, but not anything fatal, and the payoff of the climax of the film when the con is executed is enough to allay any bad taste that may have left. I wish Redford and Newman had done more films together, as they had a light-hearted sense of fun and action in their films that had a feel-good quality, while still making a very fine film.
