A true delight. Really taps into our childhood imperative to put one over on the grown-ups. Not as poignant, character-based, or good as Butch & Sundance, with fairly static-sitcom direction in comparison.
But the multiple levels of con within the lightning sharp script make the final minutes an incredible head-scratching revelation which repeated viewings (or copycat films) always fail to emulate. But the biggest con in The Sting is two of the most charimastic perfs ever committed to celluloid.
"Sorry I'm late, I was taking a crap.".
