Review of The Sting (1973) by Min K — 26 Apr 2010
What fun! First off, you get the reuniting of Newman & Redford (by the by, in my opinion, Clooney & Pitt have nothing on this original duo), previously paired up in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
These two actors ushered in the new era of 70's cool guys. Throw that in with a clever and tightly written script, some excellent supporting cast members and you get the grand heist movie that is The Sting.
Great choice to go with ragtime music, even though it's not exactly 30's-appropriate, as it sets the tone for a light-hearted, back-in-time adventure. I also really loved the 70's take on the 30's - there is some really psychadellically classy costuming going on here.
Overall, a real treat for sitting back, watching and enjoying.
