Review of The Sting (1973) by Patrick M — 04 Feb 2012
Despite never truly showing me that he is a great director, George Roy Hill has somehow managed to make two of the greatest movies of all time.
The Sting is very similar to its predecessor, Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid. It features Robert Redford and Paul Newman as likable and funny criminals, in this particular instance con-artists. As with Butch Cassidy, the enjoyment of this film comes from the chemistry between the two leads and the screenplay.
This is an interesting period film, with great costumes, sets, and music. A very entertaining and somewhat underrated classic.
