Review of The Sting (1973) by Tim C — 07 Dec 2012
One of the first nostaglic movies that really captured the nostalgia of movies past with the added reality take on the Depression. This film also has a racial conscience to it too, since the main characters do so to bring justice to the person who killed a mutual friend of color.
Paul Newman and Robert Redford plan a sting operation to get back at the killer by getting him at his own game. Charles Durning plays a ruthless cop on the edge yet falls for the ploy as does everyone else.
The late Harold Gould plays a supporting role as a member of the "architecture" aspect of the operation. Robert Shaw plays the villian. Truly enjoyable film deserving of its Best Picture status for the year of 1973.
