Review of The Sting (1973) by Oscar H — 14 Dec 2014
A delight to the senses, starring the ragtime music of Scott Joplin as interpreted by Marvin Hamlisch, featuring "The Entertainer". Paul Newman and Robert Redford are con artists in 1930s Chicago, who are out to get Robert Shaw's money after he kills their friend.
The movie won the best picture oscar, but Newman was passed over yet again. With Ray Walston, Harold Gould and Eileen Brennan. A great script, and a marvelous plot twist, great costumes, a visual delight, but the superb music is the strongest memory.
