Review of The Stepfather (1987) by Chad J — 12 Sep 2010
Although marketed as a slasher film this is more or less a thriller. Taut and well acted, this is unquestionably one of the most under rated films of the genre and one that dared to break away from the conventional slasher horror films of the 1970's and 1980's.
Think of this like Psycho. There are no monsters or mysterious masked maniacs, just another human being whose only mask is his smile.
