Review of The Station Agent (2003) by Duncan C — 01 Jun 2011
A good but not great directorial debut for Tom McCarthy that serves as a precursor to his follow-up efforts. The acting is solid, the characters are well-written, and as usual McCarthy tackles real world issues through these slightly offbeat characters.
His style and plotting isn't as developed yet, and parts of the film are pretty slow, but it's hard not to be won over. Plus, it's not everyday you get to see the talented Peter Dinklage star in a movie.
