Review of The Station Agent (2003) by Rick Q — 25 May 2012
Tom mccarthy's directorial debut sets a pretty good tone for the kind of films he wants to make as a writer/director. it's oddly humorous in a very mondane way with very unhappy characters that are in serious need of a change, which we watch them briefly go through.
peter dinklage gives a very brilliantly subtle performance that let's the audience know he is an actor to take notice of. joe aramas provides a lot of comic relief, but in a very non-slapshticky slapshticky way, if that makes any sense.
then patricia clarkson brings the essence of the film's heart with a very beautiful performance of a truly sad woman. the chemistry between these three actors is very special and rare for a threesome.
if you're a fan of films by director's like alexander pain, I highly recommend you see this one.
