Review of The Station Agent (2003) by Devin M — 08 Dec 2014
Quirky and somewhat charming movie about a bizarre group of people who slowly grow closer together while they try to overcome their personal demons.
Not much really happens in this movie, and by the end, I felt like things had only gotten started. The most redeeming qualities of this movie are its odd but mostly pleasant light humor and its nondescript, sort of laid-back aesthetic feel. Otherwise, I didn't really find much that thrilling in the movie. The story itself was fairly mild, and there were some interesting, albeit sometimes irritating characters, but I didn't really feel like it got much across. In fact, it is a bit difficult trying to remember much of the main plot at all as I write this.
On the whole, the story was fine and not particularly boring or offensive in any way, but at the same time, it just didn't seem like there was enough to it to make it anything more than just good.
