Review of The State of Things (1982) by Anthony V — 30 Jan 2008
Existential stasis has rarely been so riveting. Wenders directs with wit and acuity, aided by the ravishing cinematography of Henri Alekan. Only the more conventional narrative towards the end dilutes the effect, but this is still an excellent film.
