Review of The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978) by Chris T — 24 Aug 2007
The only movie that makes "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Heart Club" with the BeeGees seem like entertainment!
All of the Star Wars cast are there; Luke Skywalker looking freaky cause he just got into a motorcycle accident and his plastic surgery is a bit fresh; Princess Leia, looking so whacked out on drugs that her eyes are pointing in two different directions. Seriously! 1970s guest stars of some repute, (at least prior to this,) include Art Carney, (Norton!), Bea Arthur, (Maude!), Diane Carroll, (as wookie porn!), Harvey Corman, (as every embarassing character ever concieved!) and about twenty minutes of non-subtitled or translated wookie banter that will have you questioning your sanity if you watch this alone while drinking! Trust me, I know!
Other forms of wookie entertainment, (aside from Diane Carroll's soft-core,) include a Jefferson Starship video that looks like Spinal Tap in Space, (Is that guy wearing a cape? Yup.), some form of "Circue de Soleil" hologram, a Boba Fett cartoon, a cooking show starring a four-armed, cross-dressed, Harvey Corman; and a T.V. program entitled "Life on Tatooine" that shows the Mos Eisley Cantina and its brassy owner, Golden Girl Maude, doing a number straight outta vaudeville.
This is so incredibly bad, you will be bragging about sitting through it!
And watching Princess Leia barely stagger around a desk and try to talk to a lady wookie is worth the five stars alone!
