Review of The Star Chamber (1983) by Dan S — 04 Jul 2007
A stale thriller that basically stands as a rather unsubtle critical examination of the U.S. judicial system. Micheal Douglas does his best with a script that goes nowhere, and the silly conclusion doesn't do the film, ironically, justice.
You know a film is struggling when it has a terrible title and its star holding a gun to suggest something exciting happens. In reality, Douglas never touches a gun, but in many ways I wish he did. The Star Chamber lacks a coherent narrative, and waywardly meanders to a forced finale.
