Review of The Star (2017) by James W — 19 Nov 2017
I am 63 years old and my son who watched the movie with me is 32. We had no children with us. I give you our demographic so that you can better appreciate the following review. Sony does an excellent job producing a children's movie of The Nativity that is both engaging, funny and as Sony claims stays very close to the core of the biblical narrative.
If you are looking for a complete and exhaustive telling of the biblical story with 100% accuracy -- then look elsewhere. Take your children to Sunday school for that. And I might add, lighten up! As a minister and pastor of over 40 years, I recommend this movie for it's laughter and warmth and elevation of the story of the Son of God coming to this earth.
I got a lump in my throat and was emotionally moved at the climax of The Star. I might add that you should stay in your seat and enjoy the children's artwork of Jesus playing as a baby. Absolutely delightful! Thank you Sony.
