Review of The Stanford Prison Experiment (2015) by Johnson C — 10 Feb 2016
The Stanford Prison Experiment is a thriller movie directed by Kyle Patrick Alvarez, and it stars Billy Crudup, Ezra Miller, Olivia Thirlby, and many other teenagers in a story that's based on the real life experiment by Psychology Professor Philip Zimbardo in the 1970s.
I was very excited to see this movie as the premise is fascinating, and would like to see it through. I'm gonna be honest, and say that The Stanford Prison Experiment is one of the most challenging films that I've seen in years.
I mean it, this movie would make you so mad that you can't believe what you are seeing as they did this and kept going with it, which makes you want to punch them so much. I was shocked at the end of it, but I didn't act like I understand it, I did, and I can really see it from the characters's point of view.
The acting is strong in it that I honestly thought that they were actually getting frustrated with the experiment while the guards are just having a lot of fun with it, messing them around and treating them like trash.
The writing by Tim Talbott is very well written with some great thought-provoking moments while understand and putting a lot of detail about the whole experiment. I like the close up shots of the characters, which shows the uncomfortableness of it, and the characters are really good.
The movie does a great job of showing that with the characters acting out like other characters, it can bring out the worst of a person to the point of them being a completely different person. I got invested to see where it's going, and once it's, I wouldn't say it's spoilers as they said that were gonna do it anyway in the trailers, over, I was very happy about it.
The Stanford Prison Experiment is a fantastic movie that is going to divide viewers up for it.
