Review of The Squid and the Whale (2005) by Marshall G — 18 Oct 2008
For some reason, I can always watch this movie. It's painfully awkward and, well, too realistic in some parts. That also makes it beautiful. Daniels and Linney are remarkable. In fact, it's probably the best performance I've seen from Jeff Daniels.
The dialogue is incredible as well as the camerawork. The hand-held feeling from the camera really puts you in the room with all of the chaos this family goes through. Definitely in my top movies of all time, and most certainly one of my favorite film endings.
