Wow what a depressing movie. However, as the description says, it was extremely honest. When I later read that it was based off of the director's personal experiences, I was heartbroken even more. This movie contains a particularly nasty divorce.

While neither side is "right"-the father constantly talks bad about the mother to the kids, while the mother had an affair a little back-I personally empathized with the mother, played by Laura Linney.

She does a great job at the role. She knew she made mistakes, and she is attempting to do the best she can with the current situation. Jeff Bridges is fantastic as the father. Such an asshole. Seriously.

But he even got some empathy from me. But this movie belongs to Jesse Eisenberg and Owen Kline, playing the two kids, Walt and Frank. While Walt bottles his emotions, sticks to his dad and starts to turn into his father, Frank sticks to his mom and turns to extremely destructive behavior and he looked only 12 years old.

Both turn in fantastic and honest performances about what these kids went through in what is a really hard time for any kid. Overall, while sometimes painful to watch, it is extremely meaningful and is something many people should see.
