"The Squid and the Whale" left me at an intellectual and emotional distance- character motivation seemed shallow and many actions forced and/or disconnected from the overall narrative, if there indeed WAS such a thing.
Calling "Metamorphasis" kafka-esque, to quote one of the movie's characters seems to be the ideal metaphor for the impression with which this movie left me.
