Review of The Squid and the Whale (2005) by Adrian — 16 Nov 2005
An "Ordinary People" for the oughts...Who would empathize members of a wealthy white family whose only worry in life is how they relate one to another? Educated people high on Maslow's hierarchy have the luxury to figure things out but can't seem to, leading to an absorbing display of human imperfection and pettiness.
Relationships are fragile things no matter what resources one apparently has to bring to bear.
