Review of The Square (2008) by Wayne S — 11 Aug 2010
A brilliant and disturbingly realistic thriller.
The Edgerton Brothers seem to have captured every aspect of the classic Hitchcock movies (e.g. Vertigo) and brought them to the 21st century.
The Square is a strong candidate for an American remake, like [REC] was a while back. But it surelly won't be as good as the original.
The characters and situations in this movie are so "close to home" that no one can feel detached from it.
The main thing that sticks in your head after watching it is the knoledge that shit happens. And people do crazy shit all the f*cking time.
