Review of The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) by Shawna L — 02 Oct 2011
Not the worst of Bond films, thus far in my opinion being Live and Let Die followed by You Only Live Twice, but this one is far from some of the best like Dr. No and Thunderball. There are some cheesier than usual Bond lines.
Roger Moore can't quite pull it off the way Sean Connery did, but it still works, so long as you keep the picture's era in mind. The soundtrack is even a bit much, but overall there's a pretty good story.
Not as many gadgets in this one, but they made up for it in explosions. Barbara Bach (AKA Agent XXX lol) is lithe, lovely and holds her own against Bond, which is a sign of the times from when it was made, women's lib and all that.
Not the most mischievous villains, but "Jaws" is certainly creepy and unique. Overall, it's worth a watch to have seen them all.
