Review of The Spy Who Dumped Me (2018) by Cork B — 27 Dec 2018
There is a plot here... somewhere... Girl dates spy, spy gets killed - sorta, girl and best friend go on the run and hijinks ensue. You are not quite sure who are the good guys, or who you are supposed to root for (except obviously for the two leads played by Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon).
The movie certainly has funny, even hilarious moments. While not consistent, there are enough funny scenes to recommend the movie. I found myself interested in seeing what the girls were going to do next. I found Kunis to be the more interesting one to watch. McKinnon was 'a bit much', but both were funny.
The rest of the story was a bad spy retread with over the top villians and overused plot devices. The movie's setup scenes paid off way better than the climax.
