Review of The Spy Who Dumped Me (2018) by Thomas E — 05 Aug 2018
No where near as funny, clever or thrilling as it thinks itself to be. Very few things felt right or interesting about the movie. The comedic timing was off as most jokes landed flat like a body out of a window kinda flat.
The pacing and cuts were off. The onscreen chemistry was lacking, it felt like the leads were in two different genre movies that coexisted on the same physical plane was the sake of sight gags and sight seeing.
McKinnon came off as if she were in another dragged on too long SNL skit, and at odds with Kunis's befuddled to supposed badass romantic spy thriller. This felt rougher than Rough Night, though I at least didn't check my watch several times during Rough Night.
