Review of The Spy Who Dumped Me (2018) by Rebecca J — 04 Aug 2018
One of very few buddy movies starring women. Hysterically funny-full of female style humor that apparently, once again, male critics don't get. Or they resent. I'm not sure, but the criticisms from reviewers are overall baseless.
The friendship between two women is the core of the film. There is amazing chemistry between the two leads. They're not "mean girls". They don't try to one up each other. In fact there is no conflict between them.
They are a unit. They celebrate each other. They are proud of each other. They take care of each other. And then there are the men. Sam Heughan is gorgeous-and a good guy. Justin Theorux is a bad man-so is Hasan Minhaj.
The film is a pleasure to watch-the vagina jokes are wonderful, and apparently too much for some of the male reviewers to handle. Pshaw! It makes one believe that there really is a place for women in film.
Now, if we can just bring the male reviewers up to speed...
