Review of The Spy Who Came In from the Cold (1965) by Leighton T — 01 Jun 2011
A perfectly-paced, calculating noir thriller which moves along very quietly before its shattering ending. Richard Burton, as always, is terrific, with sadness, rage, and a hollow soul burdening his character throughout.
The subterfuge within the film is always in question which keeps the audience on its toes, and the stunning, sad realization at the end only made something like the Cold War seem even more magnified and terrifying than it already was.
