Review of The Spy Next Door (2010) by Jason H — 29 May 2010
I haven't seen a movie this uninterested in appealing to adults since Paul Blart. It's actually similar to Paul Blart: cookie-cutter characters (especially the villans), horrible attempts at comedy, nothing plot, awkward-at-best romantic relationship between the leads, and phoned in acting.
It's a shame that describes almost every "family" movie these days. No imagination, no effort. Just the path of least resistance to get a return on the investment. One positive was Madeline Carroll who I thought showed a lot of potential.
She could turn into a respectable actress. So even Jackie, G-Lo, and Sportacus couldn't save it.
