Review of The Spy Next Door (2010) by Ernest C — 23 Sep 2010
Chanâ??s physical martial arts usually fun to watch but here they are tremendously undercut, if not completely defeated, by a stand-in stunt performer and obviously CGI effects. This is all the more a pity as Chanâ??s physical martial arts would have been the only thing to make this film watchable.
As it is, it is not difficult to be the best thing in a film devoid of originality, charm, interest or anything which would make this film entertaining. The only positive use I can think of this film is as a gag gift, where you give this to something because, as you tell them, they like Jackie Chan films, before pulling out a real Chan film to give which actually excites and entertains.
