Review of The Spy Next Door (2010) by Jebus C — 09 Mar 2011
Jackie Chan has made worse American movies than this so I don't see what the fuss is about. He has a good rappor with the child actors and some of the action scenes are ok. Its certainly nowhere near as bad as The Tuxedo or the Medallion.
As always with the US films they use special effects too much and wires for that matter. But that isn't really the crux of the problem. Too many of the supporting actors are terrible in this flick.
Amber Valletta is the worst culprit but George Lopez, Billy Ray Cyrus and a dreadul Magnus Scheving (as the campy bad guy) drag it down too. It doesn't help that the script is a real piece of shit outside of Chan talking to the kids and the plot is a waste of time.
Definitely at the low end of Chan even for comedies.
