Review of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water (2015) by Lovro H — 24 Jun 2015

I really thought I would like this movie a bit more... I was quite dissapointed. The first movie, which did happen over 10 years ago, was one of my most favourite feature length cartoons, but this one just wasn't as original, or as funny as the first one.

It is very, very random, and while it can be amusing at first, and I did have some laughs in the first 20 minutes or so, but as the movie goes, it gets more and more tedious. The story isn't all that interesting, but it's also not that bad.

The time travelling part was interesting, and I love the look of the movie, even when they go out of the water! I like how more than half of the movie is under the water (meaning it's drawn, not 3D animated), and only in the last 20 minutes, the movie goes out of the water (3D animation), so it seems old-fashioned and a welcome refreshment after all the 3D animated movies lately.

All in all, a good sequel that isn't as funny, nor interesting as the first one, but if a fan of the show, it's worth a watch.
