If you knew the Spongebob of the first three seasons, you wouldn't have liked this movie as much as you claimed you did. It's just not funny. It's an avalanche of baby humor. Then the characters end up on dry land, and within minutes, you feel like you're watching an Alvin and the Chipmunks movie.
It's all visual effects, and no substance. The 2D portion of the film is definitely beautiful to look at, but what good is the painstaking stroke of a pencil if the story behind it isn't good?
