I honestly was a bit skeptical about wanting to watch this as there's a different director for this movie named Paul Tibbitt who is actually now the creative director of the show after the first Spongebob movie which from what I heard about it, declined in quality.

I only saw one episode of Spongebob that was aired after the film which I didn't find funny, although it is only one episode which my opinion wouldn't really matter for that. The original creator Stephen Hillenburg is involved in this movie as a storyteller which is good, and the writers of the Kung Fu Panda series Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger are wrote this which gave me a bit of hope, bit seeing as this is not a Kung Fu Panda film, I wonder if the comedy that they are going to write is going to be like that film, or Alvin and the Chipmunks which I was very worried about it as the trailers made viewers believed that most of the film is going to be live-action.

Well the film is actually animated for the most part, and it's a satisfying sequel. The voice acting is great as usual, and Antonio Banderas is having a bit of fun in this. The writing is really good as they understand what the show is about, or used to be about.

The jokes are non-stop and are funny, although there are some that didn't hit the mark. The story is pretty good, and there were moments that were moments that were unexpected to me. The action is good and ridiculous which I'm glad that it doesn't take itself seriously.

When it does go to the live-action scenes, the effects look really good. People might preferred animation then live-action which I'll agree with that too, as the animation looks really impressive, but the makers did their best to make the effects work which is fine by me.

The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water is probably the closest thing to being like the old show which proves that Spongebob can still be funny.
