Review of The Spirit Is Willing (1967) by Stephen C — 03 Feb 2011
Fun, unsophistocated VERY 60's slapstick comedy featuring Sid Caesar and family (Wife Vera Miles, and ultra-whiny schmendrick-son Barry Gordon-) who rent an old New England house to get away from the hustle-bustle of city life, only to encounter a trio of rowdy and randy ghosts who were involved in a love triangle in their corporeal lives.
Hokey, yet very enjoyable, with a dream cast of very recognizable character faces of the day: Mary Wickes, Jesse White, John Astin, Harvey Lembeck, Jay C. Flippen, and especially the wonderfully buck-toothed 1940's comedienne Cass Daley as the most violent of the sparring specters.
Perfect Halloween fare!
