Review of The Spirit (2008) by Usayeed H — 16 Feb 2010
Is it just me or is the visual look of movies like this bad?!! I mean God! How can anyone like it's unrealistic, supposedly noir look? To me it's just stupid and downright silly. If you want to make a comic book film dark, first look at The Dark Knight, then draw some inspiration to it instead of doing a quirky looking piece of surrealism.
Well, the visual aspect is not my only complaint, the plot is just terrible. Add that to an A-List cast who've apparantly lost their steam. I mean not one person here was able to escape from over the top acting which obviously equates to unrealistic and surreal performances and characters.
Oh God, how terrible is this thing? Action sucks, as do the villains, and I can't think of something which can fully redeem it. Only a few things stop it from being a zero: it's genre and the fact that I felt that they wanted to make a dark movie.
Other than that, I really can't see anything special about this flick. Don't waste your time watching it, it ain't what they said about Sin City.
