Review of The Spirit (1987) by Asif K — 17 Mar 2010
First of all, I know nothing about the source material/comic. Of the recent crop of comic based movies this is by and far my favorite. Wildly entertaining, visually stunning and surprisingly funny. Unlike fellow comic based movies like Watchmen and SIn City, The Spirit doesn't take itself so serisously which I find refreshing.
If you like your comics with that attached to reality feeling you probably won't enjoy The Spirit because it takes everything to a comic extreme. I think it fabulous but apparently I'm in the minority.
