Review of The Spirit (1987) by Dick R — 12 Jul 2017
Adapting the greatest comic book stories of all time should have been easy: follow the source material from Will Eisner. Instead Frank Miller "updates" and "politically corrects" the 1940's and 1950's characters and sensibilities to the ruin of what should have been a very fun movie for anyone to enjoy.
Much of the movie is good, but many errors in judgement spoil the sense of humor and make this an "eh" movie. I had such high hopes - enjoy the 1980's tv movie better than this Frank Miller ego trip gone wrong.
Wish I could rate it higher but cannot. Casting is enjoyable.
