Review of The Spiral (1998) by Jonathan D — 25 Aug 2005
I recently bought the Ringu Anthology of Terror Dvd set. These are the four films that the American version of the Ring and Ring 2 are based on. I got this 4 dvd set for 22 dollars in best buy and am starting to be happy that I got it that cheap. THe good news is that Ringu is scarier than the ring(I had already seen this and will post a review of it when I watch it again). I started right in with the sequel to Ringu: Rasen or The Spiral.
I am not going to completely trash this movie. I will start with the positives. I am fascinated with the story of Sadako and this gives some more background information on her. It was interesting to see how the sequel could stray so far away from the original. Well thats it. I can;t think of anything else. The movie takes away the scary supernatural from the first movie and puts in its place a lame and confusing SCifi Story involving DNA and physics. I didn;t really understand much and I didn;t care. This is a poorly made movie and completly fails as a horror movie. I have 2 other movies left to see in my set. Ringu 2(apperently made to make poeple forget about this one) and Ringu 0. I hope to find much better films there.
