Review of The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008) by Rachelle C — 04 Sep 2010
My son, Robert Coulson, and his friend, Alex Nachi, and Patrick Tyler were the doubles for Freddie Highmore! (Jared/Simon) - We had an opportunity to work on set with Mark Waters (Director), and Ben Rosenberg (1st AD) and the entire cast AND CREW in Montreal were simply amazing.
The production was done by Paramount; who was professional from beginning to end! Freddie, Mary-Louise, and Sarah and her sister, were so much fun! Watching the movie being made from behind the scenes was one of the most incredible experiences i've had.
I'd been a small extra in one or two- so I had not ever really been able to just sit from a complete observer perspective (actor assistant) and watch. The organization, from networking, construction, score, makeup, pre-and post production really give one a true appreciation for the talent and work that goes into film making.
Oh, and so that everyone knows, the Producers are also usually on set during the film-making process as well to make decisions ensuring that the scenes are being filmed correctly and look good. At least Paramount was.
I didn't remember seeing WB in Forever Young. ... I loved how the movie turned out. My son did have small parts, but our experience was worth the bond built between us, and I really enjoyed getting to know the amazing people in Montreal!
