Setting aside the unforgivable liberties taken from the book series, "The Spiderwick Chronicles" still fails as a piece of family entertainment. Dull, stiffly acted (HIGHMOOOOOOOOORE!!!) and just not very well-made, the positive reception this film received is simply baffling.
