Review of The Spectacular Now (2013) by Ian G — 24 Jan 2014
As far as these coming of age films go, the Spectacular Now is very grounded and heartfelt and really hits it out of the park. The portrayal of Sutter as the supposed king of the hill who quite possibly has the earmarks of becoming stuck in a rut and tormented by the sins of his father is changed irrecovably by Aimee Finciky who challenges him in ways he couldnt have possibly have imagined.
Great in so many ways and has that good slow burn that creeps up on you.
