Sometimes less is more, and this is a good example. This movie is smart, simple, and engaging. It does tend to drop off a bit on the real side of life (seriously, no one ID's the obvious teenagers drinking in the bar?!) However, it shows the real side of alcoholism: dysfunctional families, teen angst, etc.
. A powerful message about the actual world young people live in, rather than the dream world Hollywood setting of most films. I really loved the ending...
