Review of The Special Relationship (2010) by Gareth J — 16 Aug 2010
Having watched Michael Sheen play Tony Blair twice now I can't say enough nice things about the job he does (I know, I know I need to see The Deal, I'm working on that). I think that he finds an even match in Dennis Quaid who plays a Bill Clinton that sounds just like the real thing.
Hope Davis also does a really brilliant job as Hillary and you believe her and Quaid together. Though to expect anything else from Peter Morgan who brought out the big guns in his Blair trilogy. This is a really great look at the behind the scenes look at the events.
I like the visual of Tony calling Bill from his bathroom to talk about the IRA while Bill rades the fridge. It also show that this Special Relationship was not always a relationship of equals and then the sad moment when Blair hitches his star to that of Bush.
