Review of The Spanish Prisoner (1997) by Wilson M — 08 Oct 2007
Nobody saw this movie. But who cares, you're better than them. This David Mamet psychological thriller is classic Mamet. The quips come at you like darts, and the exchanges are like fight scenes. But if you know David Mamet, you already know that.
Steve Martin gives a hall-of-fame performance which is even better than "Cheaper by the Dozen," as well as "Shop Girl." The twists and turns will confuse you, but when you've figured it all out, you'll think how clever this Mamet guy is.
This movie isn't so much a one trick pony, as it is a journey through a fast paced thriller, it's not "The Sixth Sense." It's quintessential Mamet, nuff said.
