Review of The Space Between Us (2017) by Robby K — 03 Feb 2017
There is about 15 total minutes of good filmmaking in this movie, regardless of how hard Asa Butterfield tries to make us care, regardless of how good Britt Robertson and Gary Oldman are at acting, 15 minutes of almost good filmmaking is all we could get.
It feels like it's been written by a slightly intelligent middle schooler with an overactive imagination. It has no grasp on tone, editing, narrative, or anything else besides what these very good actors can pull from nothing.
It's not so bad that it's difficult to watch, but every single scene is ridiculous in some way or another, and not in a good way.
