Review of The Space Between Us (2017) by Joyce N — 05 May 2017
One of the worst and cringiest movies I have ever seen and it is so poorly executed.
The plot has potential and so does Butterfield but in the end there was just too much going on.
First of all the science is all off how does one give birth on mars and expect that kid to grow up normally and magically he can come to earth and survive? How do you have internet on mars?
How do u magically escape government protected NASA facility? hOW DO YOU KNOW HOW TO GET TO COLORADO WHEN yoU JUST GOT OFF ANOTHER PLANET?? HOW DO YOU FLY A PLANE HIGHER INTO SPACE WHAYT THE FUCKG KINDA SCIENCE HOW WILL THAT FIX HIS HUGE HEART IM SO ANGRY RN how is SHE OKAY WIHTOUT OXYGEN HOW DO THEY GET TO SPACE THAT EASILY IFNSKJFGNKJG.
HOW DO THEY STEAL CARS SO EASILY.
Sorry for all the caps this movie just makes me so angry.
There was also way too much going on with Tulsa's back story. The foster care stuff? Parental issues? They attempted to explain this through her monologues but failed so badly and I just got annoyed of her damn shut up girl.
Is this movie about finding his father, finding love, saving his life, or discovering a wHOLE NEW PLANET? You can't try to combine all of those together!!!!
Their relationship escalated so quickly why ARE THEY HAVING SEX HE LITERALLY JUST CAME FROM MARS LIKE 2 DAYS AGO he doesn't even know what a horse is!!!
Rtkjehrgjehgjwhijrh.
The professor, who is grandpa material, is his DAD?!
Ofc, Gardner magically comes back to life just like everything else that just doesn't make sense.
How do two teens steal cars, drive across America, run from goddamn government agencies and not get caught, have enough money to do so, did I mention her companion just came from another PLANET. HOW DOES SHE KNOW HOW TO MAGICALLY FLY A PLANE AND THEY HAPPEN TO LAND IT WHILE IT EXPLODES???
A better film would have focused on just the love story and gardner discovering the beauty earth and maybe his decaying health factors in along the way. and would've slowed on the progression of the love, maybe ending the movie with a kiss not fucking sex in a desert.
Also, Britt Robertson should not have been casted she is way too old (27) and it's fairly obvious considering Asa's baby face.
Tried to be sci-fi, failed miserably, did no research whatsoever, completely illogical.
Tried to be romance and also failed, too much going on, should've kept it sweet and sentimental.
Ended up being an unintentional comedy.
