Just watched this on Film 1 Spotlight channel. "La source des femmes" is a beautiful portrait of Moroccan women fighting for their equal rights in a strongly patriarchal society of a village in Morocco.

An emancipatory journey, the film that was premiéred in Cannes (2011) makes a case for interpreting Islam and the Koran in the light of societal progress, questioning tradition and religious teachings, and even saying NO to salafism (and presumably fundamentalism for that matter), which corrupts the Muslim societies all over the world.

Even if you haven't been in Morocco, this film will give you an honest, non-judgmental glimpse into the life of rural-traditional Muslims in North Africa. The actors did a justice to the plot and the positive message they delivered is worth a moment of reflection or, hopefully, constructive discussion.
